Beverly Murphey is a veteran with ten years as a storekeeper in the Navy. She spent her first three years in Sicily and finished the other seven in San Diego where she met her husband Jon in 2003. By 2004 they were married and starting a family. It was after their family grew that her priorities shifted. With three children all four years apart, one having special needs, the duel military life started to put a strain on the family. Although it took time for the Lord to work the confidence into her heart they both knew homeschooling was the best option for their children. In 2009 she separated from the military and started her journey as a full-time homeschool parent knowing that this would draw her family closer together.
Currently her family lives in Santee California where they have been for the past ten years. Beverly and her husband are deacons for their church and leaders in various small groups. The entire family loves to serve others in ministry. Along with being actively involved with her church she also has a spirit for life-long learning.
Her favorite quote is from Albert Einstein, “The day you stop learning is the day you start dying”. It was that spirit that inspired her to go to college. She now has a Bachelor of Science in Christian Ministries and an Associate in Culinary Arts both of which she graduated with highest honors. She believes that learning is fun and rewarding when taught from heart to heart even in the midst of the challenges it presents. It was through homeschooling that her love for learning turned into a love for teaching. ILA opens a new door for her to foster the love she has for learning into the hearts of the next generation.
