Ann-Marie Hines earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Pre-Med from UCLA. By the age of six she was interested in becoming an educator, however, since she excelled in Science her counselors directed her to pursue a career in Medicine. Having always enjoyed helping people of all ages, she did enjoy working at the UCLA Medical Center and St. Joseph's Hospital in Orange to explore career options in the medical field. She worked for the American Red Cross for a while too. It was while she was working for Student Venture (the high school outreach for Campus Crusade for Christ) that she realized that she was called to be a teacher. She had the opportunity to serve in the Philippines, Russia, and the Ukraine during this time-teaching in their schools. Ann-Marie taught middle school science in Fullerton and elementary school in Tustin for 10 years. She has operated a tutoring service for 16 years. She teaches students that the word “science” really means knowledge and that all true knowledge comes from God. Her class will study observable science using the scientific method while teaching the importance of validity and repeatability and science does not conflict with the Scriptures.
Ann-Marie is married to Paul Hines, who is also teaching at ILA (History). She has one son, Samuel, whom she has home educated for 9 years. She enjoys backyard organic edible gardening, home cooking, walks on the beach, supporting Sam in Brazilian jiu jitsu, and writing. She published her book, Gary Garibaldi in the California Kelp Beds in 2005, and is currently revising it. She is proud of the fact that she won the Most Valuable Player award for her high school swim team, as well as, the top student in English and Typing.
