Course Description

This year-long class provides a great introduction to the vast fields of Biology and Human Anatomy. The scope of this course covers: the characteristics of life, the chemistry of life, cell membranes, cell organelles, DNA, cell reproduction, genetics and heredity, creation and evolution, scientific classification, the kingdoms of life, human anatomy and physiology, and nutrition.

We will be exploring these topics in a fun and interactive way. The students will participate in labs, dissections, and projects each week to reinforce their learning. Students will be instructed in Cornell note-taking to ease them into the art of listening and taking notes on important subjects. This course will include in-class tests, handouts, and supplemental lab materials not included in the text. All lab supplies, dissection materials, and a lab notebook are included in the materials fee. However, please purchase the required textbook for this course upon confirmation of enrollment: "Science Shepherd Life Science" textbook: (ISBN# 978-098285683-3) You may purchase the print copy or the eBook version.

This class does not accept charter funds due to the Christian content but the majority of work samples can be submitted to a charter for science samples. This is a comprehensive full science course for the year. Upon registration, a $50 non-refundable deposit will be due, which is applied to the cost of the course.
