This class is an introduction to American Sign Language (ASL), taught by a nationally certified ASL interpreter. No previous knowledge of ASL is required. The class will introduce students to basic grammar, vocabulary, fingerspelling (ASL alphabet), numbers, and a taste of Deaf culture. We will focus our units on vocabulary that will be useful to kids interacting with their world such as: greetings, animals, family and home, colors, food, simple conversational phrases, etc. These will be taught using fun and hands-on interaction, games, small group activities, videos, and lectures.
