Are you looking for an engaging history class that teaches TRUE American History? If so, then look no further! When history is taught correctly, it will not be boring. Quite the contrary, it will be fun, engaging, and extremely educational. This class will encompass those 3 components as we dive into America’s beginnings and the phenomenal foundation our brave founding fathers laid that has given us the longest standing Constitution in the entire civilization of mankind. Students will research historical documents and presenting them to the class through a variety of assessment options provided. We will create interactive notebooks, sing songs, memorize, and enjoy tasty cuisines full of rich history from colonial, ethnic, and modern American favorites throughout the semester. Your interactive notebook will become a favorite keepsake to look back on for years to come remembering all the wonderful people, places, events, trials, and tribulations that have left their mark and set our nation apart from all others. We will be learning about the Pilgrims, presidents, the founding documents, branches of government, 13 colonies, Westward Expansion, important wars and events. Perhaps these principles and concepts laid down so long ago is what makes every tribe and tongue still want to come to this great land of ours that we are so fortunate to call home. America, home of the free because of the brave!
SCOPE AND SEQUENCE-FALL SEMESTER
This course highlights the journey of the Pilgrims in Holland to their final destination to America. We highlight key historical figures each week and the trials they faced to what ultimately led to the formation of our nation and the important documents still in use today. Students will also be learning how the US government is run and the process of our constitutional republic. Please see course syllabus for weekly details.
