Join us as we dust off the artwork of the Ancient times! Using ‘Story of the World: Ancient Times’ as our guide, we will embark on an adventure as we discover the first written text and journey 5000 years in 32 weeks to the the rise of Charlemagne. Every 2 weeks students will create an inspired piece of art relating to the history theme of the time. We will be using art tools inspired from each time period as we learn to make our own paper, create our own text, work with gold leafing, study mosaics from Persia, Egyptian hieroglyphic art, and terra-cotta inspired figures of the first Qin Dynasty.

TUITION: $255 includes all class material fees (the exception is your child will need to provide their own sketchbook that we will be filling with sketches. I just saw some great sketchbooks on sale at staples and michaels, it doesn't need to have more then 50 pages and can be any size larger then 4x6...you could even have your child make one if you are feeling creative! Please make sure it is not lined but blank paged.)

Since our time in class is only 1 hour a week and we don't give homework we really encourage our families to purchase the SOTW book and read or have your student read the chapters we are learning about (Curriculums with chapters will be sent out before the semester starts). If you wish to follow along with us this year, I highly recommend the Story of the World book: Volume I: Ancients by Susan Wise Bauer. I also recommend the activity book, it is such a great book filled with recipes, map work, craft projects, stories and questions relating to the Ancient Times and is a great way to dive into the history outside of our class!
