During the course, students will work in small groups to produce a digital media project on a topic of their choosing. Students will work on the following production skills and corresponding software over the course of their project work:
-Stop Motion: this is a form of animation using pictures taken in a sequence. The software used to develop the stop motion animation is Dragonframe.
-Film Editing: students will be asked to edit and produce a video using professional grade- software called Final Cut Pro X.
-Digital drawing using Procreate
-Animation on iPad using Smoovie and/or Rough Animator
Students will have access to professional cinema cameras and rigs, professional music creating and recording equipment, polymer clay and tools, lights, green screens, and still picture cameras as well as camera moving gear such as a gimbal, a slider, and a dolly. NOTE: Students will determine their target skill set to develop based on the project they choose to produce. At the end of the semester, students will host family and friends to view their projects.
Students with all levels of digital media experience are encouraged to sign up for the course. No prerequisites.
