Chemistry can be the most fun or themes challenging course in high school. Our goal is to make the class fun and exciting, and to make the concepts as concrete as possible. We'll cover all the basics of intro to chemistry, and have lab periods weekly to put those concepts into practice.
This course explores the basic concepts of Chemistry. The topics studied include: the activities of science, physical and chemical properties of matter, types of chemical reactions, molar relationships, stoichiometry, gas laws, atomic theory and structure, electron configuration, periodic trends, chemical bonding, geometry of molecules, types and properties of solutions, thermodynamics, reaction rates and acid-base reactions. Weekly laboratory experiments, including simulated computer labs, reinforce or introduce main concepts. There will be fun projects and reports that the students will create on their own to tie in what they learn throughout the year.
Tuition: $500/semester (not including textbook). Lab material fee is $40/semester.
Class meets twice a week for 90 mins/class
