Course Description

This has long been a popular course for 5th-12 grade students who want to be professional or just improve their drawing skills.
Learn how to draw like an animator, Anime artist and character designer. This class will explore classic animation art such as hand-drawn Disney, the art of the background and how to use perspective in art. Students will learn to create Anime style art and illustration as well as how to create your own characters for animation and comics. We will also study using simple form and line to build character and explore movement by studying squash and stretch, making flip books, style sheets, and how to develop key moves in an animation sequence. Expressions of the face and gesture will be learned. The art of story boarding, comic strip and graphic novel will also be studied.  *This is not a computer animation course, but it is highly recommended to learn to draw characters by hand first before learning the art of computer animation.
